Paul Buckley is a content and communications expert based in Ireland. He is a former head of social media at an Irish airline, and has led marketing communications remotely at a high-growth travel-tech startup. He currently provides content and external communications services and advice to clients in Ireland and North America.

2021 – 2022
As sherpa’s first marketing and communications hire, reporting to the CEO, I worked across teams to design a content and comms strategy that met the needs of an early-stage startup that was experiencing hypergrowth.
I executed across PR, blog, social, email and partnerships, delivering a busy content schedule dominated by thought leadership and product marketing. Sherpa’s social media audience doubled within six months, and the business secured national broadcast and high-ranking online coverage.
2020 – 2021
As COO of InflightFlix, I managed key partnerships including onboarding one of the world’s largest airlines as a distribution partner, winning places on both Intelak and Deutsche Bahn Mindbox startup accelerator programmes (Dubai and Berlin), and negotiating ad sales and affiliate partnership agreements.
2012 - 2020
Aer Lingus is the national airline of Ireland, where I led all aspects of the social media programme comprising social customer care, social media marketing and social insights. I was responsible for the design and implementation of social media strategy and policy across the airline, and oversaw the development of social media into a key marketing and communications channel for the airline.

Outside of work, I play bass guitar in a couple of bands. I’m a fair-weather cyclist and I enjoy cooking for friends and family—more often than not, it’s barbecue. I’m also a busy dad of two girls who love to ride ponies, play Roblox and do cartwheels.
