Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus is the national airline of Ireland. In summer 2022, Aer Lingus flew to 62 destinations within Europe and 16 transatlantic routes to North America and the Caribbean.

I joined Aer Lingus in 2012 with a mission to establish the brand firmly on social media. Over the subsequent eight years, Aer Lingus achieved recognition in Ireland and internationally as a leading brand on social media, with class-leading engagement, innovative campaigns, and excellent customer service.

I established a social media centre of excellence within the airline, with central oversight of content marketing, social insights, and social customer care. Our work won numerous awards for content marketing and customer care at events including the Irish Aviation Industry Awards, the Simpliflying Awards, The Sockies, The Kinsale Sharks, and The Irish Sponsorship Awards.

The airline needed to inject new life into the way it marketed six key destinations to a younger demographic.

We developed a high-paced video format that was specially edited to grab the viewer’s attention and to work across multiple platforms.

The films featured original content, captured on-location by internal and freelance creators.

Official Airline of the Irish Rugby Team

Our sponsorship of Irish Rugby presented rich opportunities to engage rugby fans across the world which we grabbed with both hands.

Among a host of executions, we pioneered new uses of video, we crowdsourced messages for the team, and we challenged Air New Zealand to a wager. (We lost!)
